ETC (electronic throttle control) - 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Asked by vince1515 Jul 23, 2018 at 11:22 AM about the 2010 Dodge RAM 1500 TRX4 Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 suddenly won't start and the ETC (electronic throttle
control) light is now on. When I turn the key it looks and sounds like it wants to
start then nothing. Can I fix this without the dealer?

Have you checked out the electrical connection to the throttle body? It mite have come undone or simply dirty. I believe that even idle air comes thru the main throttle body with an elect control throttle, so not starting would make sense.

What was the outcome? My truck recently started this as well. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving week so nothing is available. Am I able to fix it myself?, Or wait for dealership opening?
