Towing a travel trailer.

Question type: General
Can a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 tow a 6500lb travel
trailer. The truck has a factory tow PKG. 5.3ltr ,
6spd Auto, 3.42 rear. Not sure if it's a HD. There's
no emblems on the truck to say so. Also what is
the maximum tow capacity and what class hitch
did the factory use?

6,500 pounds should not be a problem. Make sure your cooling system is in good shape and you also may want to change the ATF and filter before towing. If the tongue weight is too much use a weight distributing hitch.
I forgot to say that you will need a brake controller for the trailer brakes.
Okay. I have a weight distribution hitch. But I'll check to see if there's a controller. Not sure if there is one. Thanks for the info.
Unless you or a previous owner installed a brake controller there will not be one. It should be near the steering wheel.
