Does the volt meter read too high?

Had a short in the rear view mirror. Now replaced. Now noticing the volt meter rides
above 14 (best guess is about 15v, looking at the gauge. Only comes down slightly
when running at highway speeds for 30 minutes. Have had truck for the past 3 years
and just is not the same indications it has always had. Any ideas on what may be causing
this?

Best thing is to have the alternator checked out. AutoZone and places like that for free. It might just be a coincidence.
Thanks mark. But just got back from Gmc dealer (they had to replace the mirror)and they said the diagnostics alternators etc is working within specs. Just that ever since I have had this truck and I bought it new, it always has settled in at 14v, no it does not. Just wondering if the short caused more issues not yet discovered?
It could just be the gage. If GM gave you a green light then you should be fine. Just keep an eye on things.
