am in dangerous area pls assist to any one who know.this problem.my ford Ranger swictched off suddenly and dash board indicated four wheel drive engaged

I would be thinking a safety part, like anti-theft or neutral safety switch, Dead/low battery. Is it even trying to crank, Is starter turning engine over?

it is only Cranking and does not switch ON But still the 4WD indicated on DASHBOARD up to now

Locate the 4WD fuse and relay and or 4WD control switches/actulators, fuse and relays for it may be with the other main fuses and relays under your hood under the black plastic lid. A repair book would go a long way.
