New fuel pump now seems to be using more gas?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 370z, 60,000miles. The fuel pump went out on it and was replaced. Now I'm noticing that I'm using more gas than normal. I say that, because, the little dots for the fuel gauge are moving down quickly, however, the gauge itself still indicates I'm getting the 25-26 mph. Something just doesn't seem right?? I have been driving this car for three years now and I know how much gas I use and right now she is sucking it down?? Is this something to do with the fuel pump? I want to call Nissan tomorrow, but I want to know what questions to ask them. Thank you,

hen you change a fuel pump it supposed to run better on gas may be its the opposite for you.... in my opinion your old fuel Pump may have been run to low on gas and develop deposits that cause it to use less fuel because of blockage now you have a new one it seems to be working wrong because its working at full potential.
I think you should give a bit more time. The electric fuel pump should have some kind of float mechanism that relays the information back to your fuel gauge to tell you the fuel level in your tank. If it's different or adjusted a bit different, you're going to get different readings than before, but you'll still actually get the same gas mileage
Thanks everybody. I called Nissan and they told me they think it might be something with the float. I'm taking it in to have them check it out.
I had the fuel pump replaced two weeks ago and I am the original owner, so even with the car being brand new, it didn't suck the gas down like that, to answer the one gentlemen who suggested maybe due to the dirty fuel pump it was using less gas??
