when i turn on the AC in my 2010 Jetta, it doesn't cool and all i can hear is a slight hissing
sound similar to a pressure release, what is the probable cause?  during the winter when i
was using the defrost there would be a random high pitched whir.  I am thinking that my
AC compressor has failed, would my assumptions be correct?

It's rare that a compressor that new will be bad, but not impossible. I would think hissing is a leak somewhere. A/C issues are best left to pros. You can try DIY, but if you have to buy the tools and materials, it may be more cost effective to bring it to a reputable shop and have it done.

    AC only blows hot air.. Powered outlets are out also and no way of knowing which fuse is for what or where it goes
