2011 Honda Pilot Check Engine Light is on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,
My 2011 Honda Pilot has 116800 miles. I recently got new spark plugs,
timing belt, water pump, both front axle. Now suddenly the check engine light
is on. I took it back to the same mechanic who worked on it, after scanning
the code (P0420) he said its due to bad catalytic converter.

Could this be due/related to any of the work he performed on the car?
I got a quote for $900 including parts and labor for the issue. Is this a good
price?
Lastly, should I take my pilot to the dealership? Any other tips to fix this
issue? (I have tried the CATAClean additive, no luck yet)
Thanks for your help.

Hi firebird338 I tried the 93 octane from BP yesterday and the check engine light is now off. Will post an update if its back on. Thanks for the tip!

That’s great it took my vehicle 10 fill ups and light going off and coming on 4 times before before light stayed out.

You can also fill up with ethanol free gas and put in some Lucas Fuel Additive. Ethanol free gas burns cleaner and can help with the 02 sensors as well.
