trans slips

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
on the first drive in the mornings, the motor revs to 3000 rpms when shifting from 2 to 3 before engaging. I took it in under warranty and again at 51000 miles, the dealership plugs in the computer and tells me everything is good, I call BS to that, no other car I own does that.

Take it back to the dealer and have the service manager ride with you so he can experiance the issue. Dont bugging them stop till its fixed, you can also call toyota of north america and report the issue and dealer if they fail to fix it. Do it before the warranty is out.
Yeah depending on the type of trans it has, It sounds like the bands are slipping. On older cars you can take off the oil pan on the trans and adjust the bands so it doesn't flare between gear change, But newer cars don't even have oil pans on the trans if it's a FWD. Also is it cold were you are? if you don't let the engine warm up first before driving it could stay in the gears longer while the motor warms up. But try to get it fixed under your warranty for sure, I work at a Chrysler dealership and i know you have to be persistent even if they say it's OK.... It's not OK! there just trying to save a buck!

Before the engine and trans reach operating temp this model is designed to Rev higher to warm engine and catalytic converter to lower emissions. I've worked at toyota for 15 years.

I can relate and only wish I had a warranty. I have a 2015 Camry with 28000 miles on it and it is slipping between 2nd and 3rd. Engine rpm’s jump right up with loss of acceleration. Bought it used at a Toyota dealer with 22000 miles on it... This should be fun.

Mine does the same thing.. only when cold. It didn’t do it til About 9ok miles. the first tranny service took care of that shutter but now when it’s cold it acts up.
