1997 camry trans

Asked by GuruHL8QH Jul 19, 2019 at 10:13 AM about the 1997 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Any ideas what may be the problem. My
1997 toyota Camry has been giving me
problems to reverse. Especially in the
mornings. Will take a couple of minutes to
react although it is in reverse gear. Once the
engine is hot then it will reverse as normal.
If engine gets cool again during d day then
will have the same problem all over. Once its
moving. It will no longer give trouble to
reverse. But always the same problem in the
mornings. I have changed the filter and
trans fluid. But still have the problem? Any
ideas what could be the problem?

Probably trans is going, take it to 2-3 trans shops and ask them to look at it they will probably tell u same thing. U probably made it worse by changing fluid because old fluid even though dirty helps with friction and engaging clutches.

The fluid level is at normal. If I am up and running. Then park, upon changing gears to reverse it makes like a rubbing sound some what like an uuurrrrrrr... Sound.
