2011 camry with 100,000 miles. I stopped at a light and when I attempted to accelerate forward I couldn't move. Turned it off and then back on and it worked. Any ideas - sensor of some type?

I was having some issues with it tonight coming home from work - almost like it was slipping when I had to start from a dead stop.  Could trans fluid be low and when it got too hot it set a sensor off that would not let me move forward or backward while in gear?

Do you have any warning lights on? Check engine light or maintenance light?

Probably a bad peddle position sensor. If you were low on tranny fluid, shutting off the car should not make a difference. If tranny is low, you generally hit the gas, the car revs up, then suddenly the transmission slams into gear. Since you are not moving at all, I would suspect your issue to be electrical. If your check engine light is on, have codes scanned like AutoRIght suggested. Will cut down on guess work. Try Autozone. They will scan your car for free.

Reelin68 is on to something here. By restarting the engine you are resetting the computer. If no CEL's appeared, the trouble only caused as soft code and not one that is eligible to trigger the CEL. Double check any Autozone or similar employees statements, they are not mechanics. Take the code numbers that you get and go to the internet and research other people's events with similar codes. You will usually find these located in "Forums". This will help give more light on your specific problem.
