2011 hhr engine light on and temp gauge running hot

Asked by Patricia Aug 01, 2018 at 09:06 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet HHR 2LT FWD

Question type: General

My engine light came on and I noticed my temp gauge was running hot too.
There is coolant in reservoir and radiator. What does this mean?

Check to see if the radiator fan works as it is supposed to. Like... when the engine is running hot. If it does work properly try changing the thermostat. I'm not an expert but from what I do know, these are the cheapest and easiest places to start.

Also, if the fan does not work, check fuses and relays before getting into the thermostat.
