Power windows opening on their own.
Asked by BurtMang Jan 26, 2015 at 09:09 PM about the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD
Question type: General
I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the driver and passenger door windows
seem to creep down on their own either part way down or all the way down. 2 different
times in the last week I have noticed that they have either been all the way down or
down about 3 to 4 inches. I have been keeping an eye on them every day and checked
them last night before I went to bed and they were all the way up, this morning I went
out and they were down about 3 or 4 inches. There has not been anyone near it with
the key fobs.

Hi check your key fob the small round disks used in the to make the contacts when you push the buttons come loose and slide over make contact with different powers and grounds causing input signals( bused message) the the computer uses and converts to another computer to open the windows...// in other words when you push your window switch all your doing is sending a buss signal to the drivers door module which sends another buss message to the TIPM (totally integrated power module) that sends power to the window ...your key fob is sending that bus message...the disk we found slipped up in to the panic button causing all the windows to go down the lights to come on and the wipers to cycle
Thank you Moparjohn I will take a look at it. As a matter of fact The dealership I bought it from said they wanted the jeep and the key fob so they can determine what could be wrong. I had to replace the battery in the key fob about 2 weeks ago and I changed it. The dealership thinks when I put it back together something went back together wrong. So thank you again for your help.
Hi no problem glad I could help
I have similar situation. All of a sudden you hear (or not) clicking all over the car. Windows go down, lights go on, locks open all on their own. I have tried a new battery (twice) and I thought it was fixed but very shortly thereafter the "ghost" reappears and windows get a mind of their own. Never used this site or method of inquiry. Hope there is someone out there that can help,
GuruHL51Z I am having the same issue! Did you ever find a solution to your problem?
My 2010 is doing the same thing. Did anybody find out exactly what the problem was?
Same issues! I just replaced the batteries in my 2011 Jeep Laredo & I’m having nothing but problems with a gremlin running loose in my vehicle? Headlights turn on by themselves, front windows go down or just partially, signal lights blinking? Someone please help???

I was having same issue, took my fob apart, 4 of the 5 discs in my fob had came loose from the rubber button pad and were randomly moving around inside the fob. Cleaned with some Spray-away glass cleaner, re-glued them back onto there buttons with some super glue; and viola! No more ghost windows and demon locks. So glad I found this post.
