is there a standard time guide for auto repairs? How many billable hours it
should take/charge to do specific job?

The shops have guides for labor guides and pay for this service. Hours aren't the only thing to be aware of , it's the charge out rate for that hour. Certain garages and depending on where you are in the country will determine the hourly labor rate and can differ dramatically. But to give you an idea to remove and replace an Alternator in a 750i it can run between $700 and $1500 depending on the shop and for the new alternator.
