Fuel system on 87 bmw 325E

I got my 87 bmw 325E and when I try to
turn it over it cranks but won't fire and then
I will start to smell gas and when I get out
and look there is gas dripping off my
exhaust just after the headers. Then when I
pull my fuel pump fuse the car will start
with some throttle and it will run extremely
rough and be spitting excess fuel out of
tailpipe but will eventually stall out. I
removed my fuel filter and there is no fuel
in it. Can hear fuel pump when cranking.
Not sure if it is relevant but the tachometer
and mileage guage do not work currently.
