1997 328i taillight sensor question
I just bought a used 1997 328i...good condition. 111k miles...love it...only issue is: the communication screens says" Tailight
Failed" everytime I turn the lights on or the car off. I've checked both the tail, rear window and brake lights and all seem to
function....any suggestions? This is my first BMW so still learning the processes since there was no manual....Thanks

There are two brake bulbs for each side and a center bulb either in the window or the trunk, make sure that you have 2 brake bulbs working for each side... common mistaken problem especially when they both fail. I attached a picture, make sure all three of those spots light up (brake will light up 2 bulbs on each side.
The system monitors the resistance in he rear light assembly and if it detects higher or lower (even though the light works) replace the assembly
