I have a 1998 323i convertible and am moving to California from Texas. How do I find out if it will pass emissions/smog test before i arrive there?

Some states will honor an emissions test from one state done shortly before the move. You would need to contact California DMV to see how they operate things. We did this for a customer moving to Minnesota from PA. We had done a smog test, and included a letter saying that it passed, so she could transfer it into Minnesota without having to get a smog test there.
