I'm selling a used car (salvaged title!) I had an excited buyer, and I prematurely filled out the Transfer of Title information- on the back of the Title in preparation for the sale! Today, I learned that the buyer changed his mind and the sale fell-through. Can I cross out or white out the information on the back of the Title for a different buyer, or do I have to go through the long, drawn out process of getting a duplicate title? I just want this car sold!

IMO ,, Nope ,,, I signed on the wrong place ,,, and the made me get another title even though the buyer was with me. Most states have an "expedited" title service and it will only take a couple days. BTW,, Did you tell your buyer the car had a salvage title?
Thanks - yes I told all parties and potential buyers that it is salvaged title
It may help if you explained why the car/truck has a salvage titile ;;;; I just bought a Pristine 2014 Nissan Frontier w/21,000 Miles for $8900 .... I've had it since May and love it ,,, not a problem ,,,it was a Fresh water Flood Salvage
Don't lose the title or put it somewhere so that someone could grab it and claim they now own the car. You can always call and ask your states DMV office.
In Alabama, any alteration or changes attempted on the title make it invalid. Its a pain but really is for the protection of the owner. I had to get a replacement title for a car I sold and the new owner lost the title before having the car transferred. He did pay for my expense in getting a replacement title, but it drew out the whole process by about 3 weeks.
