I am considering a 2004 BMW 325i, 50k miles with a SMG transmission. Will this transmission outlive the payments? Will I be able to get from 50 to 100k without major problem? Not a Certified Pre-Owned

I would not see why, with proper maintenance from here forward on your part, you should not be able to get to 100k with the transmission without repairing it. Look at the fluid and see if it smells burnt or looks off-color, that will give you an indication of how the previous owner took care of it. If it is a manual transmission, you may need to replace the clutch at some point, but this is considered normal wear for a manual transmission.
SMG transmission is awesome, definitely recommend it. My beamer has 85k miles and haven't had any issues with it yet!
Not sure. I recently did a tune up on a 04 convertible model and they told me it took five visits to the dealer to finally replace their failing transmission. Of course cases vary to model, history, and dealerships. Although they have "life time" transmissions it wouldn't hurt to flush the old fluid and change the filter every couple years or 20k miles. I just did a service on a 2000 528i with 126k and he says it shifts so much smoother he can't feel it shift. ;)

the only problem ive had is the accumulator leaking or the smg relay recall which wouldnt cost you if it needed it and wasnt already done.clutches last longer due to not having the human error and having an effieceint shift every shit.its just like a normal manual except it has a control unit and a solenoid on the slave and a few other components but for the most part any way.which is a whole lot less to go wrong than on an automatic.
