Serious safety issue with 2004 BMW 330

Asked by FoxAppeals May 11, 2017 at 07:15 PM about the 2004 BMW 3 Series 330i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 BMW 330 will suddenly lose power (all red lights flicker then come on; vehicle loses power, suddenly jolts to a near halt for about 2 - 5 seconds, then picks up again).  Brake light and yellow warning light stays on, but disappears after I turn off engine and restart.  Happens sporadically and unpredictably.  My mechanic has already replaced the harness and the DME (at great expense) but problem still persists.  Has anyone seen this before?

Funny enough, I do alot of my own repairs on my 2004 330ci. I had similar things go on with the sporatic lights and loosing power, along with convertible top switch, seat warmers , inside trunk unlock. Had 2 mechanics, the dealership and an electrician. None could figure out, oh also my brake lights stayed on constantly. I replaced brake light swithch, battery, alternator, entire cooling system and on my 3red radiator in TWO years. IT ALL CAME DOWN TO A $60. DIY IGNITION SWITCH. ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED on first start. 2001-2006 WORST ENGINEERING EVER!!! DO NOT BUY PAST 5 YEARS OLD. K sara sara
