Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced thermostat and have the correct fluid level
I am a mechanic in training. The car takes a while to
heat up but does not over heat. Heater is blowing
cold air and there is a intermittent noise in the water
pump but nothing out of the ordinary . How can I
tell if it is the water pump? Or something els again I
already replaced the thermostat. Thanks

When cold, remove radiator cap and start car, let it reach ooerating temperature so the thermostat can open, once it has reached temperature u should see steady coolant flowing in the radiator, if it doesn't, replace water pump. Assuming you installed the thermostat correctly and it is opening

I had the cap on when I tested it. The car was warm when I did the swap so maybe I incorrectly installed the thermo but I've done it plenty of times.

It can happen. Just remove the housinh cover and see if the pointy part of the thermostat is facing outwards
