this may be dumb...where is the button for the gas tank lid? manual is gone and i just bought this.

did you check both glove compartments? or beside the seat?

if the other replies don't work try pressing down on the fuel door and releasing it will pop open I found this out with a 02 330i i bought took 3 guys and 35 min to figure out

No button to open the gas tank lid. As long your doors are open the lid will be open, doors locked the gas tank lid will be locked too.

The answer is press gas lid and it pops open. Make sure doors are unlocked. There is no button on the inside anywhere.

Yep, you wouldn't think, but the gas lid is locked if the car doors are locked. Once you unlock the doors push inwards on the right side of the gas lid and the left side will lift up.

None of these solutions worked on a 2017 BMW X5, thanks anyway

Miguel’s answer was spot on. If your car is experiencing a flaw such as interior dash button not working or key fob button not working, you’re stuck. The gas door will not open at all. Luckily if you can get trunk open, pull off inside cover near gas tank, there is a green pull cord. Pull to open. Thank God for that or we’d be stranded.
