Bought used BMW 525 (2004) want to change out 22 inch wheel back to 17 inch wheels, was told i have to replace the struts, is that right??

I bought a used 2004 BMW 525, previous owner had 22 inch wheels with low profile tires. want to return back to 17 inch wheels, will I have to replace struts

I wouldn't think so if it wasn't lowered or modified other than the ridiculously large wheels. I am guessing the overall tire and wheel height is very similar between the 22s and the 17s.
