I'm a mechanic and i can tell you, i will not buy either one. BMW are expensive to repair and tends to have a lot of problems.
I agree, these cars are very nice, but expensive as heck to maintain and repair. Get a Lexus, Acura or Infiniti.
I own a BMW M3 and it is a fantastic car. Personally, I would buy the 535xi, just because it has more horsepower and will be more fun to drive. After all, it is The Ultimate Driving Machine.
As a current owner of a 328 550 and my old 335 that got total. It will depend on what your after. 535 has more hp and potential to be fix and run faster but you will be at the shop fixing things left and right. 328 is a little more reliable but still expect to be at the shop for mayor repairs. If you dont care about repairs get a 535 but if all you want is luxury and a fast sedans go buy a is250 or is350 lexus. They offer more options and keep their value better. Good luck on your next purchase!

BMWs are great cars. If you like the car, there is no reason to veer away from it over maintenance. The main difference between the 528xi and 535xi is the engine. The 528 has a 2.8L I-6 and the 535 has a 3.0L twin turbocharged I-6. Naturally, the 535 will have a little more power.

Also, the 535 has much more tuning potential to maximize power. The N54 is known to be one of the best BMW engines to tune.
I have a 2012 528 xi.. Purchased new, I added lots of options just for fun. Probably my last car purchase. (Age) It has the 4 cylinder engine. About 1/2 second slower than the 6 cylinder 535 in the 0 - 60 mph. It will get a speeding ticket in any location. Plenty of power to pass. Tracking the MPG using the math method (not the instrument read out) three times we have done over 36 mpg, on the highway, keeping up with traffic. My only complaint is the GPS. It will get you close to where you want to be. Never right on. 400 to 700 feet error. My Garmin on my BMW R1200RT motorcycle is right on every time. Also you can not run it thru a car wash that has the two rails to guide the left tires. The inside one may/will take out the tie rod. That is in the manual.
II don't mind about the maintenance but I don't want to be fixing a car every month I had a Nissan maxima and I was in the dealer every month for something different that was a nightmare
Yes that what I like I'm looking for something with power not too big not too small but I heard people complaining about the hpfp

You won't have it in for maintenance monthly. I've never had an E60, I drive an E39, but I can tell you that it's not that bad. People often over exaggerate the maintenance required to daily drive a BMW. If you take proper care of the car, it will take care of you.

i have a 97 750iL 212000 miles and 07 750i 167000 miles and now a 17 528xi nothing major ever, just keep oil changed and like any other car regular maintenance of brakes tires etc, if you won't abuse it.....very few cars will give you the pleasure you'll find driving a BMW.
