I purchased a 2001 740 I series BMW and it says to add coolant so I put some anti-freeze mixture with water in the car turned on the heat and added it in. Now the car is getting hot

Not at all. The E38 is a very good car, I love them and hope find find a nice 740i sport some time soon. Like Tom said, if you don't DIY, find a good mechanic. They can get expensive if they were/are poorly maintained.

Well I took your advice and I am returning the BMW 740 I, I had it 2days and it over heated kept saying add coolant which I did , but after all the research I did and the comments about the car the car dealer agreed to return the car and let me pick something else. Thanks wish me luck . .Juan

Sorry it didn't work out for you. I can understand not everyone has a strange enjoyment for fixing these cars like me, haha. Good luck with whatever you end up with!

If I had any mechanic abilities, I would have kept made a project but being able to work on a BMW is 100% cost effective, but no BMW knowledge and parts equals alot of money I dont have..Thanks for everything, Juan
