car wont start, dash lights stay on with key removed

was warming up car, pushed in clutch to back out and car died. pulled out key
dash lights remained on. disconnected battery and eventually got it started.
next day same thing except now it wont start at all. dash lights stay on after key
is removed. had to disconnect battery to keep charge in battery.

turns out it was ignition relay. cheap and easy fix. swapped out one relay with another and the car started right up. went to parts store to replace bad one. no problems so far, everything working fine.
