why won't my key turn bad chip or bad lock cylinder?

is the steering wheel straight if so it is most likely the tumblers in the switch try spraying wd 40 in the switch put the key in and fermly and rapidly tap the key not to break the key but enough to vibrate the switch then try turning the key if it turns do not turn back to the lock posion and do not remove key until you are ready to replace the switch if the steering wheel is turned in the lock posion relieve presure off the steering lock and try turning the key i hope this helps

you don't say how many miles on car? if it's high milage you may have worn out tumblers,which mean ignition should be replaced.
