2004 Cadillac SRX WONT start

Asked by Brina Jan 09, 2017 at 03:45 PM about the 2004 Cadillac SRX V8 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car won't start when key is turned. When hooked up to
another car via jumper cables it will click and a light with a
car and a lock on it will pop up on the dash. Husband said
the engine is locked but not sure. Does anyone know
what the issue is?

Try rotating engine by hand to see if it's locked up or not

If the motor is locked for any car. Take out each spark and put a little trans fluid in each cylinder and let sit for a day. Sometimes this will unlock the crank and u will be able to turn it. Old school trick I learned and worked.

Make sure alternator isn't locked up or ac compressor remover belts and try to rotate motor. I have seen many times alternator seized and motor was unable to rotate by starter looking like seize motor
