My 2003 CTS has started having what sounds like dashboard or windshield chatter/squeaking at freeway speeds. No idea what's causing it. Ideas?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At about 60 mph a chattering/squeaking sound happens.  It's doesn't always happen, but quite a bit.  Sometimes I'll change lanes and it stops, but then will start again.  It has also stopped occasionally when turning on a bend in the freeway.  I've pressed down on the dash next to the windshield with no luck in effecting it.  There is a micro crack in the dash, but again, pushing on it when the noise is happening has no effect.  It's a puzzle.

had a similar problem. even tried pushing small wedges of cardboard between the dash and windshield. turned out it was hood movement. a good dose of silicone on all the hoods contact points stoped it.
