Subaru Outback CVT Transmission

Asked by GuruLKV73 Apr 17, 2019 at 06:20 PM about the 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

Question type: General

We have a 2011 CVT that is shuttering with 135,000 miles and the dealer suggested a new transmission @ $8k so we just brought it home to make the best decision possible.  We are considering installing a used transmission but would like to know if all years of Outback CVT's are interchangeable into our year model of car or are we limited to a specific year range or transmission model type as we start searching for a replacment?

Call an independent shop and get a quote for remanufactured CVT... there's places that do that. Don't pay $8,000. If you are able to find a 2011 with low mileage...I suppose it would work....how likely is that? Probably not.

I am in the same boat with a 2013 Outback. I wonder if AAMCO or someone similar would be an option.
