There was a recall on the liftgate....if yours has not been in for that recall, at least check with the dealer.....you don;t need to tell them your son was working on it.
Just got a new lift gate recall notice (12/5/16) take it to the dealer.
My son was messing with the panel where the liftgate motor is now it won't open. Wonder if there's a sensor reset button?
