Can a 1997 cadillac sts 4.6 fit in and be an easy
swap to a 2001 cadillac deville dts there bolth 4.6
32v northward and I believe longblocks?

I have a 1999 Seville STS. When I bought the car the engine was torn apart due to a bad head gasket. It the course of the owner trying to repair it he stripped the head bolts out in the block. I bought the car and swapped in a 1998 Seville STS (both northstars) and got it running. Here my problem the starts goes forward and backward but when I go down the road the car wont shift out of 1st gear or rev over 2500 ish rpms. I have tried to manually shift it, nothing. It feels like it is in some kind of safety of limp mode. I also swapped in a new radio and heater controls from the 1998 and that doesnt work. Any ideas? I lost and fed up with this car.

Recheck your work, make sure you didn't pinch the transmission control wiring. How long did it sit? Maybe the shift solenoids have varnished up. Do you have any codes either for engine or transmission even if there is no check engine light on.
