Asked by Guru9ZKR5Q Dec 12, 2020 at 06:59 PM about the 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 Dodge 1500 4 by 4 stalls only after I fill the gas tank completely. I
have had throttle body replaced and new gas cap. After driving 10 miles or so
doesn’t stall. Have had it to my mechanic several times shows nothing on
machine.

Same with mine. Most of the threads I've read say fuel is getting into the evap canister and plugging up because of filler neck overflow. Not supposed to "top off" when filling. That would explain why it stops acting up after fuel level drops. Going to stop short of totally filling and see what happens. Good luck.

Thank you so much. I have tried this before and it works. Plus revving the motor severally times right after a fell up. Bought new gas cap stoped for about 6 months. Just bought another gas cap see how that goes. Scary when I’m in traffic and it stalls!!!

After hearing my problem could be the Evap I went YouTube and put in how to replace Evap canister. Well guess what there are several videos! I ordered the canister and had a friend help me install it. Couple of things to know. Make sure you order the Evap canister WITH the pump. When we pulled the hose off the pump it broke because it was brilliant. Second we had to drop the drive line to get the Evap canister back in. I am glad my friend is a mechanic I could have not done this by myself. I have filled my tank 4 times now with no stalling !! After 2 years or more of this problem I am really happy. Sure hope this helps someone!
