'08 Ram 1500 4x4 randomly goes into "limp" but no code

Asked by Anthony Nov 15, 2016 at 10:18 PM about the 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am not much of a mechanic but my truck does have a warranty but every time the mechanic takes it, it won't happen to him...Randomly for no reason I can tell, sticks into 4th gear ( i think ) and only comes out if i turn off the truck then start it and its fine for any time between 10 minutes and the rest of the day. the mechanic I'm talking to is ok guess, but i bought the truck from them and they give me a good deal on regular maintenance, not sure if it is related but the truck does spit out a p0440 evap system code ( only P0440 ) and sometimes Gas cap code too but there seems to be no correlation as far as timing.

I don't think a EVAP fault would cause the truck to go into limp mode. Intermittent problems are a pain in the tuckus.

we think its fixed he replaced the evap canister, but the transmission is still doing its limp thing with no code.
