Problems with my lights on my Cadillac deville

Asked by Barbara May 03, 2020 at 10:25 AM about the 1998 Cadillac DeVille Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I left in my car and the interior lights
stayed on while I was driving then
when I got back shut the car off the
interior lights stayed on for about 15
minutes to tell lights stayed on would
not go off after checking the doors
they still did not go off until the battery
was dead. It did it all of a sudden with
no idiot lights or warnings. While the
interior lights were on  they were
flickering.

If the door ajar light was not on I'd suspect the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM controls the interior lights and is supposed to shut down any lights that are left on after ten minutes of inactivity. This includes leaving a door or trunk lid open, like if you're cleaning the car, for example. Hope that helps! Jim
