2011 SRX remote starter doesn't work

I clicked the lock button twice then clicked the remote button for 4 seconds, it makes a
little motor sound and the lights blink but it doesn't start, any suggestions, I just
purchased this car and have had for a few days.Thanks for any help

Push the lock button only once and then hold remote start button down until the lights flash. Pushing lock twice overrides the start function.

ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH? ENGINE LIGHT ON? THE REMOTE START WON'T WORK IF THE DASH HAS ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON, ESPECIALLY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT.
