Likely cause is either the data center gauge (display module) or the body control module. The data center is the easiest and cheapest to replace if you can find one. The BCM is mounted under the dash and is more difficult to find and replace. I am assuming the data center has no operating display in all modes, not just the range mode.

has there been an historic failure of fuel pumps in Devilles? I have a 2003 DHS and I have heard that GM fuel pumps are notorious at failing at around 100,000 miles.

Okay, after an hour or so, I was finally at a point of pulling the fuel pump out of the gas tank and replace the fuel level sensor. BUT... the (cussing implied) fuel pump will not come out of the tank...

I have a 93 Cadillac deville and I smell fuel when idling. Also a miss while idle used to shut off at a stop but that quit. Still a miss and smell fuel. Plse help me figure it out. Thanks guys
