I had the same issue. The air intake manifolds have a recall. The arm sticks in open position this causing an incorrect air ratio which in turn makes your car lose power and possibly stall. You may want to check that first.

This just happened to me a few minutes ago. Any resolution with your car problems? If so, what did you have to do?

This exact thing has happened to me.. any resolutions from anyone? grpack1, did the intake manifold recall solve the issue for you?

Yes it did. VW North America paid for the warranty work due to the recall and changed out the entire manifold.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! I have scheduled an appointment with my dealer and they have confirmed the same. They also mentioned there is a "clock spring" and "computer" recall warranty as well. Might be helpful to anyone else on this thread. Thanks again!

What does it mean if my drive or whatever gear I'm in flashes and it seems like the engine just revs like when in neutral but when actually in drive

Ok I've been racing my cc for 3 years. Those issues are various although similar in diagnostics. First cheapest. Spark plugs. Then direct ignition could. After that could be a fuel injector. If your timing is off remember the 2.0 turbo is a zero clearance valve set up. So continuing to drive it will run repairs up to $6000.00 also the throttle body can be sticking if it happens at the 5-6k rpm marker. Just turn it off and restart and get to dealer where the repairs and related misdiagnosed issues will be covered under warranty if they fix the wrong thing first.

I have a 2013 CC Sport with a manual transmission. I love my car, much more than most Humans and since I grew up in Germany sometimes feel driving is in my blood that being said this is my 3rd VW and the midst problematic although I was prepared for somewhat finicky issues of a very and esp a CC the rewards of driving it have much outweighed the downside . Up until now , I too had to replace all the coils? They said once one goes bad all others follow, but it's never solved the issue completely and it still shakes in the am when I turn it on, they won't help or even let me bring it back in. Now it's idling and starting to die even after it's been started and I know it's winter now but my baby is getting downright bitchy at me. My issue is mostly with VW of America they have been an absolute nightmare where the car cannot fix itself I take excellent care of my darling Cac and haven't made a ton of upgrades I mostly focused on an 6K stereo I put in and had to really hold back with that figured it's a beast and I want to be buried with the car to be honest but VW of America is making my life a bit unbearable they can be real tools and thesmall amount of business I've done with the body shop has been the worst nightmare of my life, picture Trump in charge of a body shop but less understanding and even worse haircut. I'm trying to not get ignorant on these folks but it's getting hard to not start to look at the WRX niext to me and wonder , what if?

I have a 2013 VW Eos and engine light continues to come on, although the mechanic has changed all spark plugs and coils. It also seems to shudder slightly. Fuel injector issue? I put Sea Foam fuel injector cleaner in 2 days ago, too. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Hi there. I recently changed my spark plugs on my 2013 Jetta S. There were changed last May in 2017. So all little over a year. I noticed the engine light was going on and car shaky. That's why I took it to Auto Zone. I was told at Auto Zone my No. 2 cylinder had misfired and to replace spark plugs. After replacing all four, the engine light is still on and now the EPC light is on. I took my for a test drive (not very far) after I replaced plugs and shakes a little.

I seem to have the same problem Didnyou get the issue figured out?

For those changing out the spark plugs and still have an issue. I believe VW also had/has a recall or extended warranty on the coils. I had one go out on mine, which caused loss of power, shaking, etc. . Changed it out and all good.

I'm going to try to take it to a dealership tomorrow... Do you know if the recall is still active?

Stephane, I would try to google VW recalls (on your specific car). If you don't have luck with that, then just call VW North America. Good luck.

Hey guys, in my case the issue was the coil pack. The car was basically misfiring I had a recall on my particular model so VW fixed it for free

So I had the issue described above occur yesterday (EPC light came on, car shaking when you accelerate, check engine light flashing...). My repairman replaced an ignition coil and spark plugs, (knock on wood) all seems fine after the fix. $381. I did contact VW America to see if there was an extended warranty, I have a 2011 CC Lux and unfortunately there is not. I find it interesting, in most of the posts the issue is happening right around 60,000 miles. Mine has 62,000.

The same issue as described occurred for me today (EPC light, car shaking, etc.). Temperatures in MN are near 0 degrees F so was hoping it would resolve as engine warmed up. It did not. Made it home and parked in the garage, but now my car won't start at all. Has anyone experienced that? I plan to bring it in ASAP but didn't see anyone mention issues starting the car.

If the EPC warning light on and Check Engine light on,please check your MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow sensor),located in the Intake hose after the air filter box. Here in Malaysia it price about MYR 700,maybe arround USD 250.TQ

Atleast you guys and girls are getting 60k miles on average out of your vehicles before this is happening. I picked up my brand new Polo last Saturday and by Sunday the EPC light was flashing ,loss of power and was straight back to the dealership. Its covered 200 miles. No fault on the computer, had the fuel tested but all ok. They are baffled to say the least. To say I'm deflated is an understatement.

This happened to me as well, while running at 60km/h suddenly misfiring has started along with EPC & Engine warning lights on together with heavy vibration on the engine side. I bring it to my VW service center and they diagonized that the oxygen sensor is faulty, replaced and still running good.

Same happened to me, service center has changed the oxygen sensor and run for around 15,000 Kms again it happened while running. Planned to switch to a Japanese car because it too costly to repair it such complaints with an approved service center. Interesting thing is that they couldn't even identify the exact reason and what exact to be changed.

2010 CC. In my case, it was a coil, which at the time 2014, was under a manufacturer recall, so luckily I didn't have to pay. Since then, no issues.

My CC started this problem at around 85k miles. I’m at 91k currently and have had all the recalls done. This EPC light, rough idling, and sluggish thing is still happening. I used to be able to turn it off and restart and the light would go away. Now I’m just gonna milk it and hope nothing goes wrong until I can trade in. I’m actually impressed I have 91k !

I have a 2010 CC sport. Engine light came on and shaking especially when idling. Error codes were coil springs and intake manifold. Exchanged all coils, pcv valve was fine. Now the epc light is on and barely wants to start up. Going to replace the manifold and see if that works. It's choking.

laci.. were you able to replace the manifold?

EPC light and misfire on 1 and 2. Change spark plugs.. change position of coils and now getting ready to change injectors

I went to Volkswagen and they ran my VIN number. Said there is a recall for the intake manifold and if that's the cause then it'll be free. I googled my car and had no recalls. It was the problem and they changed it for free. Also they said the misfires was from the sludge on the carburator I believe. They cleaned it all and now it works great. Epc light went off too. They cleared out a lot of codes I had

We did change the coils because we had those codes too. New spark plugs because it needed it. And our pcv Valve had already been replaced because of the rear main seal leak last year.

Hey I got 140k on my 2011 vw jetta 2.5 se and this problem started with check engine light but now epc light stuck on. I am way past recall mileage what should I do. Car starts and runs great in sport gear but its automatic. And horn dont work which also was recalled but i have too many miles and not paying over 500 bucks

Same issues for me. With my 2013 VW CC Lux 2.0 turbo with 70k miles, the symptom was a shudder on acceleration from a standstill; but it was very intermittent and did not happen all the time. The problem continued until a engine indicator light came on, then went to flashing, then the EPC indicator light came on. The repair shop replaces all four ignition coils and spark plugs, at a cost of $540. There should be a recall for this, with so many people reporting issues.

So I also bit the bullet and let Volkswagon have at my 2011 JETTA 2.5 and although they tried to get 4000 dollars worth of work done, My goal was to get that damn EPC light off and to also get the check engine light off, as well as be able to drive the car without it shaking when not in SPORT Gear; As it turned out, I was able to solve the problem for 570 dollars including an oil change and tire rotation. As they were only told to fix the IgniTION coil. and not the vacuum pump leak, or the engine mounts, and other crap that they told me I Should fix. I simply paid for only the oil change 69.99 with synthetic coupon, and the ignition coil fix has turned all the annoying dashboard lights off, as well as made this VW jetta drive like a nomal car again!

I have a 2020 Atlas Cross Sport with less than 1500 miles on it. EPC Light went on, Engine Light went on & vibration also. It's in my local dealership, my car has been there since Tuesday. I got a call Thursday said they are running test but looks like it could be a bad coil or fuel injector. Said they were gonna run more test.

I was having the same issue, if your spark plugs get old they stress your coils also. It turned out I had a bad coil, after changing my spark plugs I had the same issue, I have a code reader and it was showing cylinder 4 misfire. I moved the coil to cylinder 3 and the issue moved to cylinder 3. Replaced the coil and my car is running perfectly now.
