Asked by Guru5CK3S Jan 12, 2018 at 02:03 PM about the 2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I've been doing a lot of research and found out
that i think it's my cvt(transmission)  thats having
issues because i have lose of power when i step
on the gas and after like 3 or 4 seconds it suddenly
starts going, i dont speed i only go 75mph on the
hwy and i only have 70k miles on the car. Will the

Warranty coverage is a BIG NO !!!! the problem is the CVT cooler ability to cool the CVT and since you likely have gone into what they call the safe mode your valve body ass'y is burnt and will require replacement. the cost to make is good again to only 120 K miles MAYBE is approx. $2400.00 could be as low as $1400.00. Good Luck..

Nissan has been replacing a lot of CVT's for free so hit them up even if you don't have a warranty.

My issue was on my 2014 Sentra's CVT assembly, the dealer tried to charge me $4,700, which wasn't about to happen since the car is barely 4 years old. I pitched a fit and was advised to call Nissan's headquarters in Tennessee and opened a case, which was escalated in a day and on the 2nd day I brought down the price of the charge to $1,800 and some change. :) To F_O_R, how'd you swing getting your CVT replaced for free?

I’m having the same issues with my 2015 Sentra CVT which is at 73k miles. The dealer said that only some sentras are covered and mine isn’t. Any advice?

They paid for my first transmission replacement but it's going bad again two years later. The replacement only had a 1 year warranty. When it happens again, I will go in that dealership and raise holy hell. Supposedly, there is an extended warranty on the drive train, which includes the transmission (according to a mechanic friend of mine) but I can't find any evidence of that. And if you get your transmission replaced by Nissan and they make you pay, it's gonna cost you about $5,000. Make sure they're paying before you let them do it, otherwise go somewhere else.

They are replacing my valve body of the transmission as a 'good will gesture.' Not sure how it will do. Car has just over 60K miles 2015 Sentra....very sad My suggestion is contact an attorney and file a claim under lemon law until they do a recall http://www.lemonlawcase.com/problem-vehicles/nissan-cvt-problems/

2016 Nissan transmission acting the same as everyone else, not going when stepping on the pedal and car is sputtering a lot. Dealership warranty won’t cover transmission because I was a few kms late on some oil changes so that threw out the warranty coverage. Going to cost around 1100$ To replace with labour. Anybody have an idea what I could do now

I have 2014 sentra . Transmission is the worst , can't believe 2014 brand new car and transmission is gone.. big mistake buying this car.

We all have regrets buying this car or even buying from nissan in the first place. We all need to come together to do something about this. Nissan IS re- called all the vehicles and repaired the transmission and extended warranty until 200,000km. Why not for Canadians? This is unfair.
