2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0 engine removal

Asked by IH8Nissan Jan 21, 2020 at 06:29 PM about the 2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0 SR

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Nissan Sentra SR 2.0 liter 4 cylinder. Trying to
remove the engine and trans as a unit to do timing chains.
Not enough room to wrestle the timing cover on and off
and actually have it seal trying to do timing with the engine
in the car. Tried a million different things. Is it even
possible to pull the engine and trans as a unit through the
top or do I HAVE to drop the subframe? Working in my
garage with an engine hoist, several floor jacks and
jackstands. Any help would be appreciated. I'm about
ready to burn this thing down and walk away.

It's a 4 hour job. Piece of cake with it int he car. You will have to raise and lower engine a couple times. But I literally just done it. Save the time

How though? Gone all the way up and all the way down with this damn engine and I have no clearance anywhere. Have to wrestle the timing cover in and out no matter where the engine is.

You have to go in dr side fender behind tire disconnecet engine mount from the subframe. It wont come out as one unit with dr side engine mount attached to frame.
