Does a 2011 Nissan Maxima seat belt wanring have a chime?

Asked by vilaman1 Feb 02, 2013 at 02:03 PM about the 2011 Nissan Maxima SV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2011 Nissan Maxima SV that was in an accident a couple of months ago. Before the wreck the seat belt waring would have a flashing light and a chime. After the wreck only the warning light works. No chime. The repair shop told me that the 2011 did not have a chime. Only the light. The owners manual says it has both. I need to know if the 2011 Maxima has both the flashing seat belt warning light and the chime or not.

Oh yes it does, have a chime that is, that dude flat lied to you, probably because he can't figure out what's wrong Did the air bags deploy?

It ought to have a chime. I agree w/ DavidH25, they either couldn't figure out how to fix it (and didn't want to admit that) or were just really stupid. Every vehicle I've driven (from a '91 Dodge Dynasty, through '97 and '01 pickups, to my mom's '08 CR-V) all will beep/chime/wail to some extent when you aren't buckled up. And I can't think to tell you where to start looking. Airbags deploying would be a factor. Good luck.

That's odd. My 2012 does not have a chime at all. Mine is CPO so I know the airbags weren't deployed. Even in my 2004 there was never a chime. That was a question I had been meaning to ask however. There is a light on the instrument cluster that shows up however when you don't have the seatbelt on.
