Anyone good with engines ?

I have a 2011 subaru forester 2.5x pzev engine
that is shot in my car 2 years old still owe 7,000
on bank...eBay is selling then for 2-3000 for a
used engine...can info up in years or down...they
are cheaper then the current 2011....I'm so
lost....the guy who is going to. Fix it wants me to
get the same year engine but incant see
spending 3000 on one when a 2014 is only
500.00..... please anyone know about these
engines ?

Always best to get an engine that is plug and play without custom work. You might be able to use other year engines. But so some more research and visit some Subaru forums.
