White smoke 2011 Saab 9-5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was driving yesterday on highway ND
towards end of 90 mile trip, car was
making a high pitched whistle noise
which got louder upon acceleration. Car
sat for 4 hours. On my return trip noise
worsened and then major smoke and car
would barely go. Best guess is head
gasket. Any guess on cost of repair. Car is
in otherwise great shape, only 78k miles.
Saab 9-5 V4 Turbo.

There are a LOT of variables, most domestics would run you around 1500-2500 if getting work done at a shop, being a Saab it will likely be higher. I would get it diagnosed to make sure that is the problem though.
If your car has a turbo-charger it is possible that the turbo has gone out.
Mechanic at Saab specific diagnosed. Iit turned out to be a blown turbo (ouch). A bit unclear why lubrication wasn't getting in there, regardless will install w new lines.very lucky to find turbo unit Genuine Saab for goodpriice. Mechanic has very solid track record and has been great to work with thus far. Saab Specific in Berwick ME.
