Flipper door failure on convertable

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I appears no one has given a proper answer to why flipper doors fail or to fix. Mine is on the LH side. The top will go up and down but only if one places the LH flipper door in the proper placement to contact the sensor switches. The removal of the flipper door appears to be integrated with the Trunk deck lid support connection point.

I had some hail damage repaired and now I'm having this issue. The dealer says both flipper doors need to be replaced at the tune of $2400. It's very suspicious to me that these flipper doors both failed when they were fixing the hail damage but i've never had any issues with the top opening and closing in the past. Any suggestions from anyone here? Thanks!

I had the same issue for my 2012 G37 LH side flapper. I had a replacement gear made and own the files to manufacturer a replacement for the LH side only. I am selling replacement gears via EBay for 50$ each. I am currently testing the replacement gear in my G37 for longevity. On a side note if anyone has a damaged RH flapper drive gear, that they are willing to send me I will do the same for the RH side. The attached picture is of a LH replacement gear that was made for purchase. My contact info Austin.B.Hill84@gmail.com
Oh bummer! I just paid the $2400 to fix sold the car. I definitely would have bought gears from you if I still owned the vehicle! Best wishes to you and your gears.

Replaced the left side with your gear and now the right side needs replacing. I ordered both gears so I have the right side. Sellers doubled the price and some are charging $100 each on eBay and Amazon.
