Heater

Asked by Montana88 Dec 10, 2016 at 01:35 PM about the 2011 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My heater in my truck only blows out cool/cold
air. Is there something I can check or try before
taking to the shop?

Check the radiator coolant level and top if off if it is low but you may need a new thermostat. If you live where it is really cold then you may need to block off part of the radiator.

Is the air coming out the vent warmer than the outside air? Check the heater control valve under the hood. Feel both hoses going and coming from the radiator core with heat on and engine hot. They both should be the same temp, very warm to hot. If not, the core may be plugged (doubtful on a 2011) or the control vale could be stuck closed. Other possibility is the blend door stuck in the AC position.
