90 fleetwood cadillac slipping in third gear and drives fine after that

you must check the level HOT with the engine running...note the smell and color...it should be cherry red...not black~ if anything else...either add fluid (inspecting for a leak) to bring it up to FULL hot or full cold...should have two hashmarks for that~
