My truck will feel like it is in 4WD even when it isn't

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed that my truck feels like it is in 4WD even though its not a few times over the last month.  I have a 2011 Silverado, 5.3L V8, 4WD with 90k mileage.  When I have my wheel turned slightly and take off (i will give it a little extra gas than necessary) I notice a stuttering while turning into a spot to turn around (usually turning left at low speed <10MPH). It feels like I am in 4WD even though I'm not. I will park and switch into 4WD and then back to 2WD but that doesn't fix it. When I turn the truck off and back on again it the stuttering stops and doesn't return. This has only happened 2 or 3 times and started last month but it has never done that before and it only does it when I first start the truck and go. If I am at a light or stop sign and goose it this doesn't happen, wheels turned or not. Anyone have an idea of what could be happening so I can get in front of the problem?

Just as a quick update. I recreated the issue last night and sure enough after I took off the truck started stuttering when I turned left. The major difference is once I turned the wheel past 1/4 turn to the right the issue stopped and did not return.

My 2010 Suburban 1500 LTZ, 5.3L V8 4WD, did something similar. Drove home last night in a huge snowstorm at 40mph in 4WHI, then turned knob back to AUTO in driveway. Drove back to work Friday, then noticed low speed turn studdering as you described. Did not go away until I forced know to 2HI and did lots of tight turns in the parking lot. So it appears it was not honoring the request to go back to AUTO (should not have been auto-selecting 4WD this morning).
