Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hi
I own a BMW. X3. 2011 . Bought it new .
For about 6 months now , when I am driving and running the car , as soos as I
stop the car , there is a beep sound and the D ( Drive sign ) in the dash and on
the shaft are both flashing a few times .
It does that everytime I stop .
Anyone knows what can be the solution to resolve that problem ???
The Dealer does not know what can be the problem
Thanks

Hello I am about to buy the same car you have today and I’m uneasy if I should. How do you like yours so far and is there any problems? The car I’m buying has $138,611 miles.
Same problem with my X3 F25 2.0D. When the car comes to a halt a warning chime is heard and the square around the D (Drive selected symbol) on the information panel flashes. Also happens when reversing when the R square flashes. The fault has appeared several times over the last few months then disappears after a couple of days. It is irritating and distracting when you're trying to maneouvre the car into a tight spot or doing a three point turn.
In my case I think the problem arose after a recent software update when I suspect many settings are returned to default value. Using the iDrive Menu try going into Settings; Control Display; then untick the Driving Mode Info box. I think, touch wood, this has done the trick on my X3. Have just had to have the dreaded EGR valve replaced after the car had a severe and scary loss of power after the "Drivetrain Malfunction" alarm initiated. Annoyingly my car wasn't included in the EGR Cooler recall so it cost me, but the car is performing a lot better now. I asked the service staff about the irritating chime when the car came to a stop but they couldn't offer a solution.
