My rear spoiler will not retract

Asked by ndrussell Feb 03, 2016 at 10:55 PM about the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The rear spoiler will not retract when the car is in park. The car is leaking  red
ATF fluid under the front of the car. The roof will not work when the spoiler is
extended.

The car's system may interpret the transmission leak as a failure and keep the spoiler deployed. I've read it's happened with caliper failures, so this could be similar...

Using a long, narrow tool, like a screwdriver, release the shift-lever by inserting the screwdriver into the little rubber flap, right below the 'D' (drive) position indicator on shift panel (and toward the rear of the shift indicator panel) and stick the screw driver (or whatever) about 1/2 to one inch in and and probe around until you find the release for the shift lever. Then, while holding down the release lever, slide the shift lever into neutral and lower the spoiler; raise the top, roll the car around, whatever you want to do.
