2012 Ford Focus Transmission needs repair

Asked by baconsarney Dec 01, 2022 at 07:53 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How long until my 2012 transmission has the same problem if I fix, not replace, it? I have the all too common problem of dust in the transmission which is causing the forks to stick. If I fix it, how long does this usually last until I have to do it again?

I had a friend who had the same transmission, and once it went into the dealer to be so called fixed, the noise and issues would creep back up. The transmission has a design flaw and Ford never corrected it, they would just add new parts to a failing design. Your best bet is if you do fix it, trade the vehicle in on something else.
