Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Looking at buying a new or used 2012 or newer Ford Focus hatchback and have seen issues with the 6 speed automatic transmission and noise. Any feedback and experience would be appreciated.

...even now, American car makers still screw things up...a Toyota will NOT strand you unexpectedly or haunt you with difficult repairs...like VW, or Jeep can a straightforward non-convoluted path is taken by Toyota...cannot get rid of my Toyota...it will NOT DIE~! think about the best auto makers, the Pacer, the Gremlin, AMX wasn't that bad nor the '70's muscle cars (aka Bullit)~ got a dirtyrotten feeling...maybe it's from having serviced the dreaded 1.9 liter found on ford Escorts and the valve tapping and the timing belts and the 5/16 socket and all the rest....spoiled by the 93-96 Ford experience as a Sunday Mechanic in Berkeley~

As of today i would stay away from the focus until ford fixes its clutch problem with the trans in the focus,it is haunting us, parts are backordered, focus is not a good choice right now, hope this helps

I'd would consider a Mazda 3 Hatchback instead of the Focus. More reliable and very nice looking car.

I'm just joking...LOL! (that's why I put an "lol" there). BUT, it does seem that Prius drivers have a tendency to drive slower on the highways (at least where I live on the East Coast). I'm sure they CAN go faster though.

they're leaving without me....changed the email settings~ you're gettin' my crap now...enjoy~ if the darned thing did not get 50 mpg....you can't argue with the high-tech Cheeze wedge~

If it's anything like LA traffic, I think I'd have to use public transit....or I'd lose my mind driving to and from work. Amazing how anyone gets to work (or anywhere else) on time there,

Ford Focus has transmission issues with their automatics. Have a look at Hyundai's. They really do stand behind their 100.000 mile warrantee.
